Why are we opting for a virtual run this year?

Be it a pandemic or a normal situation, the Grace Cancer Foundation continues its fight against cancer. The world is facing unprecedented times due to COVID-19. So, it is our top priority to ensure the safety of our participants. So, unlike the previous editions of CANcerRun, we chose to organize the event virtually. This virtual run requires you to run in your secure zone, either on a treadmill or on a jogging track to reach the chosen distance in the given time frame.

We are conducting the event in three categories such as 5K, 10K, and 21.1K (half marathon), and we encourage you to choose the category that best suits you. Besides creating awareness, this run serves as an add-on to the measures you are taking to stay fit and healthy in this pandemic.

How to be a part of this virtual cancer run?

1. The interested runners are requested to register themselves at www.gracecancerrun.com or iFinish.in

2. The registered runners will receive an e-bib (i.e., a personalized, printable picture) to their respective emails. We would like you to take a print out of it and pin it to your vest as we want to make it feel like an event.

3. On the day of the run, i.e., on 10-10-2021, the runners are requested to start between 5 AM and 7 AM and finish it at the latest by 9 AM globally in their respective time zones.

4. If any unavoidable situation arises, the runners can start and complete the run in their convenient timings by the end of the day.

5. The runners are requested to carry a water bottle or any energy drink and a few snacks to keep themselves hydrated and energized during the run.

6. We also request the runners to take necessary precautions for their safety throughout the run.

7. Runners are requested to run outdoors, along the safe route of their choice and which has the least amount of traffic. If any weather complications or unavoidable situations arise, the participants may run indoors.

8. If the runners are not able to complete the entire race, they may run the distance that is comfortable for them.

9. Strava is the preferred app for recording the run. Please make sure your device is sufficiently charged to record your entire run.

10. After the completion of the run, the runners are requested to post the distance of their run along with a selfie or photograph with the bib on the chest to

Note: Runners can record the total time on a watch or any timing or running app and are requested to share the public link of the activity which has the date, distance, pace, and the start and finish time to the aforementioned link.
Few apps that offer a public link for activities are: Strava, Runkeeper, Mapmyrun, Endomondo.

11. Runners are requested to share their pre/during/post-run pictures/selfies on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and tag @gracecancerrun (FB) @…..(Insta) @….(Twitter). We shall pick a few lucky runners from these posts and reward them with goodies.

Important advice from the event organizers:

a) We request you to kindly maintain social distancing during the run for the safety of yourself and your surroundings! We also request you to comply with all the orders of the government or local governing bodies.

b) The runners are responsible for their own safety and of others during the run.

c) This run has been planned to encourage fitness, in trying times such as these, to promote being healthy and happy. Enjoy the run and be comfortable!
